Previous Projects and Partners

2003 - 2017 - Lower Mainland Purpose Society

During this period we partnered with the Lower Mainland Purpose Society ("Purpose").  They had identified a gap in government care for at-risk youth, specifically that youth age-out of the system on their 19th birthday without having developed the skills for independent living.  Thus many ended up back on the streets.

So we partnered together to provide stable housing while Purpose taught them the necessary skills for independent living.  We found it also needed to include such items at times as finishing schooling, etc.

In the early years the Ministry had not yet recognized the need for this and thus funding was always very tight.  Eventually it became impossible to continue and we had to terminate the relationship.  Fortunately by then this self-defeating gap had been publicly recognized and the Ministry soon after funded Purpose, for which we are thankful, allowing the program to continue to help at-risk youth.  In the meantime Agape had transitioned to its current partnership and project with CMHA.

1974 - 2003 - Agape Society's Group Home

The Agape Home started out fully operating a group home for teens.  This lasted until 2003 when the BC Ministry decided to move away from using group homes.  Pictured below were presentations made to the Group house parent Sybill, and her daughter Carol, for all their years of work.
